Two nursing students from Thomas Moore University, Belgium are in Manila for a three-month student exchange immersion program hosted by the College of Nursing.

In a post by the College of Nursing, the two Belgian students are joining UST Nursing’s Level 2 and Level 4 students for their obstetrics, pediatrics, and community rotations.

This is the latest in the slew of international partners collaborating with the College since the start of the year. Complementing online and hybrid exchanges, such as the Collaborative Online Interactive Learning programs, the onsite immersions help international students see local contexts and deal with patients from various socio-economic backgrounds.

On November 27, 2018, the UST History Society mounted a photo exhibit entitled “World War I – Far Away From ý,” commemorating foreign soldiers during the World War I (1914 – 1918), at the Buenaventura G. Paredes, O.P. Building’s Lobby.

In his message, Kingdom of Belgium Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Michel Philippe Goffin said the exhibition is in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of the war that changed the world. As an example, Goffin cited the United Nations, an international system created to prevent another world war in Europe and in the European Union.

“There is a tendency of certain countries to return to nationalism, which poses now a real threat to United Nations system,” Goffin said. “This is a real danger that we highlight here.”

The photo exhibition is in remembrance of  soldiers from all over the world, who were sent to the Belgian front lines. This exhibit was mounted in partnership with the UST .
